Nicholas Genes, MD, PhD is Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. His research in informatics includes health information exchange usage patterns, emergency department implementation of electronic medical records, and using collaborative technologies to improve emergency care.
Dr. Genes has been been active in blogging since medical school, at blogborygmi.com and medgadget.com. In 2004, he founded “Grand Rounds,” a weekly compilation of quality online medical content. Last year, he was named inaugural chair of the Social Media Committee for the Society of Academic Emergency Medicine. He has spoken across the country on the topics of health information technology and EM applications of social media, and his writing has been featured in the Boston Globe, Providence Journal, Emergency Physicians Monthly, and Medscape.com.
