Shel Holtz has been providing counsel to companies on how to communicate online as an independent consultant since 1996 — and as an organizational communicator since 1985. Shel started out as a newspaper reporter in 1974, but moved into organizational communications in 1977 with companies including ARCO, Mattel and Allergan, where he worked in employee communications, media relations, corporate PR, investor communications and a variety of other functions. He has written six communication-related books, five of which deal specifically with online and social media communication. He is in demand on the international speaking circuit. Shel is co-host of the first and longest-running communications-related podcast, “For Immediate Release.” He is a founding fellow of the Society for New Communication Research, and advisory board member of The Mayo Clinic Center for Social Media, and is a fellow and accredited member of the International Association of Business Communicators.
