K. Michelle has returned with a new single, “You,” produced by Hero, which showcases her guttural soul and brings feelings back to R&B. The song delves into her lament about being unable to get her ex out of her head, even when she tries to move on with someone else. K. Michelle bravely interpolates Minnie Riperton’s classic “Lovin’ You” at the song’s outro, adding to the emotional depth of the track.
K. Michelle pairs “You” with a stunning multi-look video directed by Sam Green. The song is the second single from her highly anticipated sixth and final R&B album, I’m The Problem, following her first No. 1 single on R&B radio, “Scooch.”
In an interview with Rated R&B, K. Michelle discussed the inspiration behind the album and how it has been a healing process for her. The album was initially set to release last spring, but K. Michelle insisted on recording more music to properly express her journey.
Besides her R&B music, K. Michelle recently introduced herself as Puddin to the country music audience, collaborating with melodic country rapper Justin Champagne on “Country Love Song.” An accompanying music video is expected soon, and K. Michelle’s untitled country album, featuring contributions from Dolly Parton, Billy Ray Cyrus, and others, will be released soon.
K. Michelle is currently on her I’m The Problem Tour, which will conclude on April 8 in Atlanta, Georgia, with J. Howell as a supporting act.
