Q, a rising artist, has revealed that his debut album, titled “Soul, PRESENT,” will be released on May 5th via Columbia Records. The album includes 10 tracks, three of which were released ahead of the announcement. “Stereo Driver” was released in September 2022 as the lead single, and Q self-produced the track. Q followed up with “Today,” which he performed for the first time at the 2022 Soul Train Awards. “Luv (I Know I Want This For Real)” was released earlier this year, and Q explained during an Instagram Live broadcast that he had made the song in 2019 and decided it would fit well on the album.
In conjunction with announcing the release date for “Soul, PRESENT,” Q has released a new track titled “Not Alone,” which he also self-produced. The song has a strong funk and soul influence, with synthesizers and drums that dominate the sound.
“Soul, PRESENT” is Q’s first full-length project since his 2020 EP, “The Shave Experiment,” which he expanded and released as “The Shave Experience (Director’s Cut)” the following spring. Q has described the Director’s Cut version as being more specific about the moments he wanted to create around his music, stating that it is how he feels his vision should be experienced. “If You Care” was the focus track from “The Shave Experiment” and gained attention when Q performed it for COLORS. Q also released a short film to accompany the new edition of “The Shave Experiment.”
