Usher has finally announced the release of his new single “Glu,” which will be available on Friday, March 17. The R&B superstar made the announcement through a 14-second Instagram reel that showed a woman dripping a clear liquid into her mouth. The post included a preview of the new song, which is sure to be a hit with fans. The steamy single was first teased on Valentine’s Day, with a sneak peek of a music video starring Lori Harvey.
Details on the new single are scarce, but “Glu” will be Usher’s first new music this year and his first proper single in three years, following 2020’s “Bad Habits.” The song topped R&B radio and Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart, and it was Usher’s sixth chart-topping hit.
Usher’s new album, which has been in the works for at least four years, is also one of the most anticipated releases of 2023, and it is expected to be released soon. Initially titled Confessions 2, the album’s name was later scrapped by the artist. He has finished the album and is in the process of sequencing and naming it.
Aside from working on his solo music, Usher also contributed to Mary J. Blige’s 2022 album, Good Morning Gorgeous (Deluxe). He also supported City Girls’ radio hit “Good Love” last summer. Usher is set to headline several festivals this year, including the Dreamville Festival in April and the Lovers and Friends Festival in May. He will also be performing at his Las Vegas residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM until later this fall.
